Following up on our recent preview of the gold pair in the Undefeated x PUMA 24k collection, PUMA gives us a closer look into the fifth and final pair. The shoe features mirror gold leather, matching midsole stitching and a perforated formstrip. In addition to the material upgrade the shoe also has a studded Undefeated “five strikes” logo piercing through the outer collar. In contrast to the suede silhouettes in the 24K Collection, this mid will be extremely limited and will only be sold in Undefeated stores: with 24 pairs available at the Tokyo location, 24 pairs at the La Brea L.A. store, and an additional 24 pairs split up between the other three Undefeated U.S. locations. Release date is slated for Saturday, February 7th, 2009.

Well... as we are gearing up to go to LA for the Grammys... (lots of cool parties I'm doing on Fri, Sat, and Sunday by the way...), Terry Urban and I thought it would be cool to honor the Grammys by doing a special remix project of our favorite Grammy nominees for 2009.

Ironically, looking back at our projects the past 12 months, it seems we were definitely barking up the right tree... since Coldplay, Jay-Z and Adele all were nominated for multiple Grammys. We decided to go through the list of nominees and work with our favorite producers to come up with some really cool takes on your favorite nominated songs.

His music fuses dance, rock, rnb and hip hop and he is currently the hottest new hip-hop artist in the US, and has signed to Kanye West’s label after catching the Love Lockdown artist’s attention with the release of his mixtape A Kid Named Cudi. The effort includes a new, high-tech visitor's center, a new tourism Web site, deals with Google and Travelocity, and new regional tourism offices. New York City & Company (NYC & Co.), funded both privately and by city government, handles visitor and tourism marketing.
The new 2,000-square-foot visitors center--a $1.8 million renovation between office buildings and a restaurant on Seventh Avenue at 53rd Street--opened Wednesday with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other dignitaries on hand to talk up the city's tourism program and demonstrate a row of four-foot wide touch-sensitive interactive tables and interactive kiosks.
Developed by Google and featuring Google Earth technical magic, the tables allow visitors to search the city and surrounding boroughs digitally with a virtual map that can be dragged and expanded. Users can pull up points of interest, create an itinerary and save it to any handheld device or a special disc by placing it on a demarcated circle at the table's center, then print, save or email it. Digital agency New York-based Huge handled the program and the new site, http://www.nycgo.com/.

As many of you may know, I kind of shy away from doing interviews and press on myself, just because I've always been more interested in building FSD as a brand, then trying to make Andrew Barber pop. But when Miles Raymer from the Chicago Reader approached me about doing a story on myself and Fake Shore Drive, I couldn't turn it down. Miles shadowed me at the Mikkey Halsted "Internet on Lock" party last week and did an interview with me shortly thereafter - he pieced together this feature in his Sharp Darts section and published it today. You can either check the article online, or pick up the Reader on newsstands or in the various FREE reader boxes around the city. Thanks again to all the readers, fans, Miles and Saverio for their support.
Like most hip-hop events, the party Mikkey Halsted threw on inauguration day to celebrate the launch of his new Web site was awash in networking—cards were exchanged, demos pressed into hands, phone numbers typed into Blackberries. The rappers and producers in attendance included quite a few with at least modest national profiles (GLC, No I.D., Naledge of Kidz in the Hall, Mic Terror), and together they formed a cross section of Chicago’s diverse hip-hop scene, which makes room for commercially inclined gangsta types, conscious backpackers, and skinny-jeans-wearing so-called hipster-hoppers. And almost everybody there took a second to swing by and say what’s up to the scruffy-looking white dude whose blog, Fake Shore Drive, has become a vital nerve center for that scene...

Internet memes are kinda like wildfires: some asshole throws a cigarette butt out his car window, then he turns on the news the next day and the entire state is being evacuated and all the asshole can do is pull an Urkel voice and go, "Did I do that?" In this metaphor, as in most metaphors involving assholes, I am that asshole.
In September of 2007, a friend of mine played me a mixtape track by an up-and-coming Cleveland rapper known as Chip tha Ripper. It was an uncommonly hilarious freestyle packed with bizarre boasts and amazing taunts:"30s on my Chevrolet call me supa dupa
Garage like Roots, I got more whips than Kunta
Riviera sittin' on the Bulls' best hoopa
Y'all still ridin' 20s, y'all some Oompa Loompas"
The greatest line, however, was the very last. Delivered with exaggerated, almost educational enunciation, it was a flamboyant whip boast the likes of which we'd never heard:
"Interior crocodile alligator
I drive a Chevrolet movie theater"
My friend rewound that line and played it over and over. It stuck out as an incredibly satisfying rap lyric, maybe the best couplet of the year: self-contained, perfectly symmetrical, and totally quotable (even if the only screen in my car is a digital clock still stuck on Daylight Saving Time). It handily beats Chamillionaire's analogous "so many screens up in the slab, I'm drivin' a computer lab" in the car-metaphor arena, which is where rap's most heated intellectual battles are fought.

Using six electrodes hooked up to the beetle’s brain and muscles, and a 1.3g radio module carried on the bug’s back, the flying rhinoceros beetle can be remotely-controlled from a nearby laptop. While the researchers have managed to electrically-control insects before, this is the first time it has been done wirelessly.

Album Sales (1/25/09)
via. Hip Hop Update.Having held the number 1 spot for seven weeks prior to today's chart statistics, Taylor Swift has officially broken the record 50 Cent set in 2005. With his sophomore effort, 50's The Massacre was the previous record holder, after maintaining the top spot for six consecutive weeks. Swift was followed by Beyonce, whose I Am...Sasha Fierce continues to see solid sales numbers. Jamie Foxx, Keyshia Cole and Kanye West continue the weekly trend of trading spots within the top three. Meanwhile, the Notorious Soundtrack slips out of the overall top five rotation, but maintains in terms of Hip Hop/Rap and R&B albums.
R&B reigned supreme again, as Jamie Foxx and John Legend officially surpassed the 500,000 sales mark to earn gold plaques. Foxx was no doubt helped by the fact that no less than three versions of his "Blame it On" surfaced. And Kanye's former protégé, John Legend, can thank a halftime performance spot at the upcoming NBA All-Star competition for raising his already high profile.

In terms of mentors and proteges, Akon pulled off the trifecta. Both artists debuted to strong critical reviews, but have gotten little if any airplay on mainstream radio.
The Southern trio of Lil Wayne, T.I. and Ludacris continue to lead the way with Hip Hop's highest-selling albums. Wayne's Tha Carter III is slowly approaching 3 million units sold, while Tip's Paper Trail has just a shade over 1.6 million units sold. Luda follows, with his gold effort, Theater of the Mind.
