Students Protest Police over Marijuana Shooting

**Good for these kids...**

College students in Michigan, and across the country, have been loudly demonstrating against the near fatal shooting of Grand Valley State University undergrad Derek Copp, who was shot in the chest during a police raid that netted a “teaspoon full” of marijuana.

Police acknowledge that Copp was unarmed at the time of the incident, but still refuse to name the officer whose bullets fractured two of his ribs and pierced his lung and liver.

As this video from Students for Sensible Drug Policy reminds us, Copp’s lucky to be alive, “but countless lives are lost to the War on Drugs every year.”
